Stadium Guide
Park View Road has been Welling United’s home since 1977 and was previously the ground of Bexley United. Football has been played at the site since the 1920s; the main stand was built in 1950 and later enlarged. Erith & Belvedere have also ground-shared there since 1999. Check the club’s current travel guide for ticketing, parking and access information.
Club History
Welling began with one youth team in 1963, then expanded into Saturday football in the London Spartan League, Athenian League and Southern League. After 15 years at Butterfly Lane in Eltham, the Wings moved to Park View Road in 1977 following the collapse of Bexley United.
In 1985/86, Welling won the Southern League Premier Division by a record 23-point margin and earned promotion to the Football Conference, where they spent 14 seasons. Cup highlights included six successive FA Cup first-round appearances and a third-round tie against Blackburn Rovers, lost 1–0.
Relegation in 1999/2000 ended that spell. Welling qualified for the Conference South in 2004, won the Kent Senior Cup in 2008/09 and survived a winding-up order in 2010/11 after supporters raised nearly £60,000. Jamie Day’s side reached the play-offs in 2011/12 and won the Conference South title in 2012/13 after 12 consecutive league victories.
The Wings returned to the Conference Premier in 2013/14, but were relegated in 2015. They reached the National League South play-off final in 2018/19, losing to Woking. After relegation in 2024/25, Welling returned to Step 3. They avoided relegation from the Isthmian Premier in 2025/26 by six points after Ryan Maxwell took charge in November.
