Club Overview
Carshalton Athletic, nicknamed the Robins, are a south London club whose roots are traced to Mill Lane Mission in 1905. They play at Colston Avenue, a ground built as a memorial to club members lost in the First World War.
History
Mill Lane Mission began playing friendlies in 1903 and adopted the Carshalton Athletic name in 1907 after joining with the history of Carshalton St Andrews. The Robins won successive promotions in their early years and moved to Colston Avenue in 1920/21. After competing in the Corinthian and Athenian leagues, they became founder members of the Isthmian League Division Two in 1973. The club’s most successful modern period included Surrey Senior Cup wins, the London Challenge Cup in 1991 and a seventh-place Isthmian Premier finish in 1988/89. The 2002 Division One South title earned promotion to the Premier Division and a place in the newly created Conference South.
