Club History
Poole Town were founded on 20 September 1890 when Poole Rovers and Poole Hornets merged. The club joined the Dorset League in the 1890s and turned professional in 1923 before joining the Western League. After returning to amateur status in 1930, the Dolphins moved to Poole Stadium in 1933 and spent decades there, building a strong local following.
Ground difficulties forced Poole out of the stadium in 1994, and a difficult spell followed, including a season without a league win in 1995/96. The club later established a permanent home at the Tatnam Ground in 2000 and rebuilt its fortunes. A strong modern era brought Southern League titles and promotion to the National League South in 2016. The Dolphins’ highest league placing was fifth in the National League South in 2016/17, and their FA Cup history includes a third-round proper tie against Everton in 1926.
