Foundation and South Western League Era
Falmouth Town began in 1949 and entered the Cornwall Senior League in 1950/51. The following season they joined the South Western League, where they spent more than half a century, from 1951 to 2007. The club developed into one of Cornwall’s leading football institutions, winning the South Western League title 14 times and the Cornwall Senior Cup on 14 occasions.
Bickland Park has been the club’s home throughout its history, giving Falmouth a stable base while the team competed across regional competitions. The amber and black colours and the club’s identity as The Town are closely associated with the ground and the wider community.
Four Consecutive Western League Titles
Falmouth’s remarkable Western League period began with the 1974/75 championship. The club then won three further consecutive titles in 1975/76, 1976/77 and 1977/78. That four-season run remains one of the most outstanding achievements in the club’s history and established Falmouth as a dominant force in regional football.
FA Cup History
Falmouth Town became the first club from Cornwall to reach the FA Cup first round proper, achieving the feat in 1962/63. They repeated the achievement in 1967/68 and 1969/70. These campaigns remain landmark moments for Cornish football, demonstrating that a club based at the far south-western edge of England could reach the national spotlight.
Modern Rise into the Southern League
After the long South Western League era, Falmouth moved into the South West Peninsula League in 2007. Promotion to the Western League followed in 2023, and in 2024 the club entered the Southern League Division One South, reaching the highest level in its history. The move has brought new opponents and longer journeys while preserving the club’s deep Cornish identity.
In May 2025, Falmouth Town received the Football Supporters’ Association’s Away Day Experience of the Year award, recognising the work of volunteers and staff to make visiting supporters welcome at Bickland Park. It was a fitting acknowledgement of the club’s wider contribution to non-league matchday culture.
