Atherton Laburnum Rovers
Atherton Laburnum Rovers compete in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.
Club Overview
Atherton Laburnum Rovers, commonly known as Atherton LR, were founded in 1956 by Joe Riley as an under-14 team. The club progressed into senior football and developed through local leagues before establishing a long-standing home at Crilly Park.
Ground Guide: Crilly Park
Crilly Park is named in tribute to Jack Crilly, a former chairman who helped develop the club’s facilities. The venue became the club’s home in 1966 after volunteers transformed a former field into a football ground. Check the league’s current club information page for the latest address, admission prices and matchday facilities.
Club History
The club’s early story is closely linked to its founder Joe Riley and the volunteers who built up the ground and social facilities. Atherton LR’s progression from junior football to senior competition reflects the community roots of the non-league game.
