Boldmere St Michaels FC, known as the Mikes, began in 1883 as a youth football team attached to the local church. The Sutton Coldfield club competes in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division in 2026/27 at Step 4. Its home venue is the Amber Arena & Community Stadium, also known historically as the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.
Club history
Boldmere St Michaels grew from its church youth-team origins into a senior club with a long record in local and regional football. One of its best-known early achievements came in 1947/48, when the Mikes reached the semi-finals of the FA Amateur Cup, losing to Barnet at Highbury in front of a crowd of 27,000.
The club enjoyed successful periods in the Midland Combination and later became a founder member of the Midland Alliance in 1994. The Mikes have won the Walsall Senior Cup on several occasions, most recently in 2018/19. A major ground refurbishment in 2016 included new artificial-turf facilities and improvements designed to support the club’s youth, women’s and senior teams.
