Club History

After playing at Priory Park, the team moved to Oaklands Park in the early 1950s. They were involved in the early organisation of Sussex football and entered the first Sussex Senior Cup competition in 1882.

Chichester’s history includes Sussex County League titles, cup successes and a memorable FA Cup first-round appearance in 1960/61, when they faced Bristol City. A merger with Portfield around the turn of the millennium led to a period under the Chichester City United name before the club reverted to Chichester City in 2009. A modern resurgence brought promotion from the Sussex County League and then a place in the national non-league pyramid, with the club continuing to represent the city at a higher level.
