Nuneaton Town

Club Overview

Nuneaton Town Football Club represent the Warwickshire town of Nuneaton and are building a new chapter in its senior football story. The current club was formed in 2024 after the previous Nuneaton Borough organisation came to an end. Since then, the new team has earned successive promotions through the regional pyramid and entered the Northern Premier League Midlands Division for 2026/27.

The club’s immediate story is one of rapid progress on the pitch and a longer-term effort to establish a sustainable home in the town. For 2026/27, Nuneaton Town play their home fixtures at The Oval in Bedworth under a pitch-hire agreement with Bedworth United. This ground-share is an important practical detail for supporters: the club’s name and community are rooted in Nuneaton, but home matchday travel is to Bedworth unless the club announces a change.

The New Nuneaton Town: A Club Rebuilt

Nuneaton has a long association with senior football, and the town’s name carries memories of earlier clubs, players, cup runs and league campaigns. However, the current Nuneaton Town club was formed in 2024 and must be distinguished from the former Nuneaton Borough organisation. The new club is developing its own record, and the achievements listed in this profile relate to the present entity unless clearly identified as part of the wider history of football in the town.

The new club began in the Midland Football League in 2024/25. Its first campaign brought immediate success: Nuneaton Town won the Midland Football League Division One championship, finishing top of the division and earning promotion. Rather than treating that title as the end of the rebuilding process, the club used it as a platform for another step forward.

Back-to-back promotions

In 2025/26, Nuneaton Town moved into the United Counties League Premier Division South. The team won the division and secured a second successive league title, gaining promotion to Step 4. The Football Club History Database records the club’s 2024/25 Midland League Division One championship and 2025/26 United Counties League Premier South title as consecutive promotions for the new organisation.

Winning two divisions in consecutive seasons is a substantial achievement for a newly formed club. It moved Nuneaton Town quickly from regional football into the Northern Premier League system, bringing a higher standard of opposition, longer away trips and increased expectations around facilities, staffing and matchday operations. The club’s own communications have stressed the importance of building a competitive side while managing finances responsibly.

A sustainable future and the return-home ambition

Ground ownership and matchday infrastructure are major issues for the current club. Nuneaton Town have explained that playing away from a ground of their own restricts some commercial opportunities, and the club has promoted the “Back to Nuneaton” initiative to support its longer-term stadium plans. This project forms part of the club’s stated ambition to return to playing in Nuneaton at a future home of its own.

Until a new venue is confirmed and ready for use, supporters should rely on the club’s current matchday information rather than older ground references associated with previous Nuneaton sides. A venue can change during a club’s early years, so checking official announcements before every visit is especially important.

Regional Fixtures and the 2026/27 Challenge

The Northern Premier League Midlands Division gives Nuneaton Town a programme of fixtures against clubs from across the Midlands and neighbouring counties. The division includes long-established non-league sides and clubs that have themselves recently moved up or across the pyramid. Nearby fixtures are likely to be particularly important to supporters, but the league schedule changes each season and the official fixture list is the best source for confirmed dates.

Step 4 football brings a different level of operational demand. In its public updates, Nuneaton Town has discussed the financial implications of the move, including the need to balance playing ambitions with sustainable income. The club’s community support, season-ticket sales, sponsorship and fundraising therefore form part of the wider project, not just the matchday experience.

The Town’s Football Heritage

Nuneaton has a wider football history that predates the current club. Earlier Nuneaton organisations have played at different levels and have their own league and cup records. Those stories matter to the town’s football identity, but it is important not to attribute those historical achievements automatically to the club formed in 2024. This directory profile will keep the current club’s honours separate while recognising that it is part of a much longer local football tradition.

NonLeagueReview Ground Notes

Nuneaton Town’s story is still being written. Two consecutive league titles have taken the club from the Midland League to Step 4 in only two seasons, while the longer-term challenge is to establish stable infrastructure and a future home in Nuneaton. For visiting supporters, the key practical point is that 2026/27 home matches are at The Oval in Bedworth, not at a historic Nuneaton ground unless the club confirms a change.
