Club History
The club was formed in 1919 following the merger of Kingston Town and Old Kingstonians, although its lineage is traced back to Kingston & Surbiton YMCA, which played its first match in 1885. The K’s joined the Athenian League and won the title in 1923/24 and 1925/26 before joining the Isthmian League in 1929.
Kingstonian’s early high point came in 1932/33, when the club won the FA Amateur Cup after defeating Stockton in a replay. Further Isthmian League titles followed in 1933/34, 1936/37 and 1997/98. That 1997/98 campaign brought promotion to the Conference, marking one of the club’s strongest modern seasons.
The club’s much-loved Richmond Road ground closed in 1988, and Kingsmeadow opened in 1989. Kingsmeadow later became home to other clubs as well, before Kingstonian left in 2017. Since then the K’s have groundshared at several venues while continuing to work towards a sustainable long-term home in Kingston.
In cup football, Kingstonian beat Brighton in the FA Cup in 1994 and took Leyton Orient to a second-round replay in 1997/98. In 1999/2000, the club reached the FA Cup second round and faced Luton Town. These campaigns remain memorable parts of the K’s history.
