Club History
The present club was created in May 2007, when Hayes FC and Yeading FC agreed to merge. Hayes FC was founded in 1909 as Botwell Mission, named after the mission church in the town. The side later adopted the name Hayes in 1929 and progressed through local competitions into the Athenian League and beyond.
Yeading’s origins are more recent. The club began in 1960 as Yeading Youth Club, founded by brothers Ray and Carl Gritt, before developing into a senior club. The merger brought the traditions and support of both clubs together in a single organisation.
Hayes had a notable history in the FA Cup, including a run to the third round proper in 1999/2000, when they faced Newcastle United. Following the merger, Hayes & Yeading United quickly established itself in the higher non-league divisions, including a period in the Conference South. The club has since experienced promotions, relegations and ground transitions, reflecting the challenges of sustaining football at this level.
Honours and Notable Achievements
The histories of Hayes and Yeading contain numerous league and cup milestones. Hayes’ FA Cup third-round appearance in 1999/2000 is one of the best-known achievements associated with the merged club’s heritage.
