Club History
The club began in the summer of 1913 after the local rugby club folded and secretary Sid Skinner proposed a switch to association football. Initially named Tiverton Athletic, the team later merged with Uffculme St Peters in 1921/22 and became Tiverton AFC. After the Second World War the club adopted the familiar Tiverton Town name and moved to Ladysmead in 1946, which remains its home.
After joining the Western League in the early 1970s, Tiverton rebuilt following a difficult period in the 1980s. The arrival of manager John Owen helped the team regain the Western League Premier Division in 1988/89. Under Martyn Rogers, the club entered one of the most successful eras in its history, winning four Western League titles and reaching three FA Vase finals in the 1990s. Promotion to the Southern League followed in 1999/2000, and the club reached the Premier Division in 2000/01. A play-off victory in 2016/17 returned Tivvy to the top division after relegation in 2011.
