Roots Before the 2017 Name
The modern club’s lineage starts with Beaconsfield United, formed in 1921 after two local teams combined. Slough Youth Centre began fielding a football team in 1938, and its Old Boys side later sought a way to progress while Beaconsfield United faced its own challenges. The two organisations merged in 1994 to create Beaconsfield SYCOB.
Building a Winning Club
SYCOB began in the London Spartan Premier Division and developed into a strong force in the regional leagues. The club won the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division in 2000/01 but was denied promotion because of ground-lease requirements. A second title in 2003/04 secured a move into the Southern League. After relegation in 2006/07, the club bounced back with a league-and-cup treble in 2007/08, winning the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy and the Premier Division League Cup.
Subsequent Southern League seasons brought play-off appearances and further county success. In 2012/13, SYCOB won the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup against Chesham United. The club also reached the FA Cup fourth qualifying round in 2016/17, one of its notable modern cup runs.
Becoming Beaconsfield Town
In summer 2017 the club adopted the Beaconsfield Town name. A rebuilt squad under returning manager Gary Meakin won the Southern League South Division title on the final day of the 2017/18 season, earning promotion to Step 3 for the first time in the club’s history. The Rams then competed in the Southern League Premier South and reached the FA Trophy first round in 2018/19, where they faced eventual finalists Leyton Orient.
The club has continued to invest in its long-term future. A FIFA-approved 3G pitch and improvements to Holloways Park were unveiled in 2021, supporting both first-team football and wider community use. The club has also developed an academy and youth pathway, and launched its women’s first team in 2022/23.
