Stadium Guide

The Victoria Ground is a historic football venue in Bromsgrove town centre and the home of Sporting. The stadium is currently branded as the UK Electrical Stadium for sponsorship purposes. When the club was formed, the pitch needed substantial restoration, so Sporting initially played home fixtures at Studley’s Beehive Ground. After months of work, the team returned to Bromsgrove on 6 November 2010, beating Greenhill 7–0 in front of 458 spectators.

The ground address is Birmingham Road, Bromsgrove, B61 0DR. The club’s official ground information lists a capacity of around 3,500. For current admission prices, accessibility, parking, facilities and supporter arrangements, check the club’s official website before travelling, as arrangements and sponsorship names can change.

Club History

2009–2011: a new club for Bromsgrove. Bromsgrove Sporting was established in 2009 by former Bromsgrove Rovers directors and supporters after Rovers’ financial problems threatened to leave the town without senior non-league football. Sporting secured the tenancy of the Victoria Ground, but the pitch was not initially playable. The club’s first fixture was a pre-season friendly at Stratford Town in July 2010, followed by its first competitive season in Midland Combination Division Two. The eventual return to the Victoria Ground in November 2010 marked an important moment for the new club.

2011–2016: steady progress and first trophies. Sporting moved through the Midland Combination structure and began establishing itself at the top end of its divisions. The club won the Smedley Crooke Memorial Challenge Cup in 2013–14 and the Midland Football League Division One League Cup in 2014–15. These early honours helped build momentum and a growing supporter base.

2016–2019: three promotions in three seasons. The 2016–17 campaign was a defining season. Sporting won the Midland Football League Division One title with 104 points and completed the league campaign unbeaten. They also reached the FA Vase semi-finals, losing 2–1 on aggregate to Cleethorpes Town. The Victoria Ground crowd record is listed by the club as 3,349 for the FA Vase semi-final. Sporting then won the Midland Football League Premier Division in 2017–18, before finishing runners-up in Southern League Division One Central in 2018–19 and winning the play-off final 4–3 after extra time against Corby Town. That victory earned a third consecutive promotion and a place in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

2019–2022: adapting to Step 3. Sporting’s first campaign at Step 3 was ended early when the 2019–20 season was declared null and void due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the following season was also heavily disrupted. The club’s challenge then became establishing itself at the higher level after its rapid rise through the pyramid.

2022 onwards: consolidation and continued community focus. The club has experienced changes in management while working to maintain its Step 3 status. Its official history highlights the community-focused structure, the supporters’ trust role and the continuing importance of the Victoria Ground. Bromsgrove Sporting remain a relatively young club, but their journey from formation to three consecutive promotions is already a distinctive story in modern non-league football.

Famous Players & Club Figures

The club’s early identity was shaped by former Bromsgrove Rovers directors, supporters and volunteers who created Sporting in 2009. Manager Paul Smith played a significant role in the club’s rise, while Brendan Kelly guided the side to the 2017–18 Midland Premier title. The wider story is also one of supporter involvement: Sporting’s ownership model was designed to prevent control being concentrated in a single individual and includes a role for the supporters’ trust.

Rivalries and Regional Context

Bromsgrove’s location in Worcestershire places Sporting among a dense network of clubs across the West Midlands. Their league and cup history has brought them into regular competition with sides from Worcestershire and neighbouring counties. The club’s origins are closely linked to the collapse of Bromsgrove Rovers, but we avoid labelling any current opponent as a definitive rivalry without a clear source from the club or its supporters.
