North West Counties side Barnton FC pulled off a sensational signing this week in the shape of ex Swansea striker Lee Trundle.
Trundle who is a good friend of newly appointed Barnton manager Leon Knight signs on for The Villagers as a ‘favour for a mate.’
Barnton chairman Ian Ross told Non League Review;
‘When Leon took over he said he’d call on a few contacts, Lee is a good mate of Leon’s and he’s agreed to sign on but we don’t expect him to play every game.’
Barnton who travel to Cheadle Town this weekend could have the striker in the squad, however chairman Ian Ross says;
‘It’s down to the management team, we know he won’t be playing every game, but it’s a nice boost for the lads to have a player like Lee in the squad, and around for training.’
Barnton also welcomed back striker Joe Jennings from Wigan Robin Park and signed Lloyd Dean from Cammell Laird before this weeks player registration deadline as they look to cement a play-off spot in the North West Counties First Division.
