Barnton have re-signed goalscorer Joe Jennings from Wigan Robin Park.
Joe, who has played for Barnton over the last two years, including a devastating spell laden with goals last season, found himself out in the cold under the previous Manager and decided to leave to get some first team football.
Joe is Leon Knights first signing since he took over the reigns and Leon had this to say:
One of the first people to contact me after I got the job was Joe. he let it be known he would love a return to the club one day and when a lad of this ability shows that level of desire to be here it wasn’t hard to get the wheels in motion.
Joe is a great lad who knows where the net is and he will add to the goalscoring threat we have here at Barnton.
I’d also like to place on record my personal thanks to those at Wigan Robin Park who’s understanding and willingness to help enabled this transfer happen in time for Joe to make an appearance at Holker at the weekend.
A delighted Joe said:
I am absolutely delighted to be back at Barnton. I enjoyed my time at Wigan Robin Park and have nothing but respect for the management team and the lads at the club, but the chance to return to Barnton was something that I could not turn down.
I’m really looking forward to working alongside the new gaffer and Andy Burgess who I enjoyed working with at the start of the season.
I am a player that relies on chances being created for me and I know I will get the supply at Barnton given the quality of players in the squad and I’m confident that I can score lots of goals moving forward.
I know that Leon will help improve my overall game given that he was a prolific goalscorer in the Football League, and as a striker, I’m looking forward to learning from him and fighting for a place in the side.
The focus for us now is to cement our place in the play offs and I am confident given the quality of the squad and the commitment of the lads that we can achieve just that.
