Six contenders this week and with so many stand out results it’s getting tougher to predict a winner. Forgive me for not including Glossop North End, but after picking up this award twice in recent weeks, I think I’ll be saving their next one for a special occasion. Your nominees are:
Over 500 fans turned out for AFC Blackpool’s game against Bootle with fans of football league club Blackpool FC in attendance. A great day for the club with a 2-1 win on the pitch and moving out of the relegation zone with their first win in 6 games.
A 2-0 win over long time league leaders Skelmersdale gives Witton a bit of breathing space at the bottom of the EvoStik NPL Premier Division. Still a long way to go for Tony Sullivan’s men as they hope for survival.
Michael Clegg’s men continue to set the NWCFL alight this season as they beat higher league opposition again in reaching the MEN United Cup final. A 1-0 win over Runcorn Town sets up a final against either Glossop North End or Bootle. Meanwhile other results going for them in the league means a win on Monday virtually assures promotion.
Back to back wins for New Mills as they attempt to fight off relegation gives them a great chance, the latest a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Padiham sees them just 3 points from safety.
Another team at the bottom of the league pulling out a decent win when the pressure’s on. A 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Frickley Athletic gives the Merseyside outfit a vital 3 points in their battle against the drop.
Still in the hunt for a play-off place, AFC Darwen bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to Atherton Collieries on Monday night with a fine 9-0 drubbing of Oldham Boro on Wednesday, followed by a 4-0 win away at Widnes today.
As usual the voting closes at 5pm on Monday evening. The winning team will have their picture used as our header on Twitter and Facebook for the following week, and thanks to our sponsors at Hallmark Security they will receive one of our certificates as a small memento.
