Stockport County keep their play-off hopes very much alive after a hard-fought win over a Hyde side still seeking their first away win of the season.
It was a pretty even opening half an hour with neither side creating anything of note, until Danny Glover’s header from a Nathan Woolfe free-kick looked to all in the ground as if it was hitting the back of the net before going narrowly wide of the post.
This woke County up, who did then take the lead after 36 minutes through top scorer Kristian Dennis, he latched on to a poor chested backpass by Hyde left-back Kyle Brownhill, keeping a cool head and calmly slotting left-footed past Ed Wilcyznski.
Hydes best chance to draw level came right on the stroke of Half-time, Perry NG had a burst from the back before finding Pete Boyle in the opposition area, his exquisite turn and shot was matched with a fine fingertip save from Stockport’s number one Danny Hurst.
Hyde were left to rue that miss, as just 2 minutes after the break Glover doubled The Hatters advantage, this time making no mistake from a Woolfe cross and firmly planting his header past Wilcyznski.
The impressive Connor Hughes could have pulled one back for Hyde after his mazy run from inside his own half, but his finish was thwarted by Hurst and County held on to make it consecutive derby wins.
