County beaten as Tamworth make it 9 in a row.

Tamworth made it nine league wins in a row after a fairly comprehensive 2-0 win against Stockport County at Edgeley Park with goals either side of the break from Javan Vidal and sub Connor Taylor the difference between the two sides.

Former Stockport County player Vidal sparked unsavoury scenes at the half-time whistle as his goal deep in first half injury time gave Tamworth the lead, he toe-poked home a loose ball in the box. However it was his celebration aimed at the County Main Stand that was the talking point as it saw a scuffle break out as the teams departed the pitch.

It sparked into life a fairly uneventful game, after the opening 45 minutes saw both sides evenly matched until the goal. County were limited to half chances from distance with Chris Churchman, new captain Mark Lees and debutant Greg Wilkinson on loan from Altrincham all failing to test James Belshaw in the Tamworth goal, while Tamworth’s best chance fell to Daniel Preston, his header from a corner was cleared off the line by Scott Duxbury.

Stockport searched for an equaliser but it wasn’t to be, and on 67 minutes sub Taylor made sure of the points cooly slotting past Danny Hurst after Brendon Daniels won possession from Stephen O’Halloran on the Tamworth left and played a delightful ball into his path.
