For the 2014/15 season, the Cheshire League decided to introduce monthly awards which have been sponsored by the league sponsor Hallmark Security. As we already acknowledge the top goal scorer in each division with the golden boot award, we decided to bring in monthly awards to recognise the success of our managers and goalkeepers.
There is an award for the top three divisions and one for the Reserve divisions.
The August goalkeeper award went to Jordan Roberts of Malpas who kept clean sheets in all three of their opening games. The Reserve award went to Styal’s Nick Bazley who also kept three clean sheets.
The management awards went to Lee McGregor of new club Wythenshawe Town who opened their Cheshire League account with six wins from their opening six games and Peter Hart of Sandbach United Reserves who won five and drew one in their first month.
September saw Aaron Tyrer of Linotype CHN collect the goalkeeper of the month award. Aaron kept two clean sheets and conceded three goals in the other three games that he played that month.
The Reserve goalkeeper award went to Whaley Bridge keeper Matt Mellor who kept three clean sheets in their four wins.
Lee McGregor of Wythenshawe Town retained the manager of the month award as they continued their unbeaten run, while the reserve manager award went to Dan Turner of Whaley Bridge who maintained a 100% win record for the month of September.
In October the goal keeper of the month award went to Jacob Luty of Wythenshawe Town who kept an impressive three clean sheets while the reserve goalkeeper monthly award was presented to Peter Alston of Pilkington for only conceding four goals in a busy month of fixtures.
The management award went to Phil Shelton of Penlake for three victories in the month of October, including guiding his side from 7-1 down to an 8-7 win against Congleton Vale.
The Reserve manager of the month was awarded to Jamie Mottershead of Knutsford A as they won three games in October, clocking of a total of twenty goals!
As the clubs settled into the season, there was a lot of competition for the November awards. Goalkeeper of the month went to Andy Moor of Rylands for two clean sheets, while the reserve award went to Styal’s Alan Osbourne who kept two clean sheets and conceded three goals in their four games.
Knutsford were awarded the manager of the month award as Scott Dignan led his side to four victories out of four, which was the best record for all three of the top divisions.
Styal did the double in the Reserve Division as Nick Murray and Kevin Kinsella took the Reserve manager award for four wins and eleven goals scored in November.
