MEN United Cup – 3rd Round Review & 4th Round Draw

Glossop North End eased into the 4th round of the MEN United Cup with a 8-0 hammering of First Division side Widnes FC, Lee Blackshaw grabbed 4 while Jason Carey scored a first half double, Ben Richardson and Lee Morris completed the rout with second half goals.

Atherton Collieries twice came from behind to beat Premier Division side Abbey Hey in what seemed a fiery encounter. A Mark Adams double twice pulled Colls level, before late goals from Mark Ayres and Mark Battersby saw Colls through.

Bootle needed extra time to see off First Division AFC Darwen after the game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes. Striker James McShane scored the winner to save the tie going to a penalty shoot out.

A Freddie Potter double saw Cammell Laird cause an upset away at Runcorn Town, goals either side of the break saw Lairds run out 2-0 winners.

Squires Gate needed penalties to see off Winsford United, the game was 1-1 after 90 minutes and a further 30 couldn’t separate the two sides. Gate eventually ran out winners 6-5 on penalties.

 

 

Alsager FC were 2-1 winners at home to AFC Liverpool while West Didsbury beat Rochdale Town 2-0.

1874 Northwich v Colne was postponed after the pitch at The Barton Stadium failed an early morning pitch inspection.

The full draw for Round 4 took place after the Runcorn Town v Cammell Laird game and is as follows:
