Lostock Appoint Ex Vic As New Assistant Manager

Welch joins as Assistant Manager

Lostock Gralam Football Club are delighted to welcome Michael Welch to the club as Assistant Manager, to work alongside First team supremo Ross Speight. Michael will be remembered by local football fans as Captain of Northwich Victoria where he made 60 appearances scoring 7 goals in a 2 year spell. Welch began his career at Yorkshire Football League side Barnsley but failed to make an appearance before joining Macclesfield Town he became a fans favourite at Moss Rose, playing 160 games before moving to Accrington Stanley in 2005 making just short of 100 appearances as he helped Stanley to promotion to the Football League and a Conference National Winners medal the following year. After his stint at Vics he joined rivals Altrincham.

Michael told he club that regarding the task of becoming Assistant he is “Looking forward to it” and that he had “not been involved in any sort of football for 3 years” Since he retired through injury. He continued “It will be great to be back involved and hopefully I can help Ross and the lads any way I can”
