On Friday 18th July almost 3000 people turned out at Edgeley Park to honour County legend and former captain Mike Flynn. Some say the game was held 10 years too late, but as the saying goes, ‘better late than never.’
A host of former legends returned for the game and what a game it was. The current County side ran out 6-0 winners, but as Alan Lord said afterwards ‘the real winner was the crowd, who got to see all their former heroes return to Edgeley Park,’ how right he was. Legends like, Alun Armstrong, Lee Todd, Tony Dinning, Luis Cavaco, Andy Preece and the ‘biggest’ legend of all Kevin Francis all graced the Edgeley Park turf once more.
Regarding the actual game, the current County side ran out 6-0 winners with goals from Scott Spencer, Kristian Denis x2, Chris Churchman and Jordan Lazenbury x2.

After the game, Stockport media man Jon Keighren caught up with Mike Flynn, Kevin Francis and Current boss Alan Lord. Here their thoughts on the night, on our special Mike Flynn Benefit Match podcast:
